
We had a great time this year learning the Italian Trattoria Menu!
The popular cooking class series, hosted by Chef Mary Evans, returned again this fall. Our classes allowed members and guests to savor the flavorful menu and expand their culinary confidence and cooking knowledge, plus enjoy conversation and camaraderie with fellow Cooking Club members! We prepared the entire menu in teams so everyone got the chance to experience - hands on - the recipes themselves.
Attendees received all the recipes at class so they could write down notes or helpful hints from Mary. Each participant also received a custom apron and tote filled with goodies from our class sponsors so they can recreate the menu in their own home.

Herbed Portobello Mushroom and Bell Pepper Crostini
Dress plump mushrooms and roasted bell peppers with a splash of Nakano red wine vinegar seasoned with garlic and Italian herbs. Serve on crusty slices of bread for a great introduction to the meal to come.
Oven Butternut Squash Risotto with Crispy Sage Garnish
Learn how to make creamy Parmesan-laced risotto the easy way—in the oven—and how to flash-fry herbs for garnish.
Pan-Seared Steak with Balsamic Drizzle
Great-tasting steak doesn’t have to break the bank. Cook up your beef like the pros—starting with a quick pan sear and then finishing in the oven. Make a luscious balsamic sauce with shallots, Nakano Seasoned Balsamic Rice Vinegar and seasonings to drizzle over your succulent steak.
Sautéed Fall Greens with Garlic
Quickly sauté fall greens with olive oil and shaved garlic. Splash with Nakano rice vinegar and serve.
Italian Almond Torta with Amaretto Custard Sauce
This Italian torta features light-as-air egg whites folded into a ground almond base. A silky stovetop amaretto custard sauce adds just the right finishing note.
A little about the Instructor - Mary Evans

Mary Evans is a frequent contributor to the Cooking Club magazine and has hosted the Club's hands-on participation classes in previous years. She inspires members to reach new levels of culinary achievements. She'll offer the same wonderful instruction, a new spectular menu and tips in all 10 class locations.
Mary established "The Write Cook," which features a wide variety of food- and travel- related services, including culinary tours, cooking classes, articles and cookbooks. A former cooking school director and confirmed Francophile, she enjoys sharing her passion for food and France with otheres through teaching and travel.
