If you use your pet rock for soup isn't that petracide? And aren't the laws very strict about that? You could end up pounding rocks! Lloyd, I hate to tell you but you might never see your pet rock again. I have put a few in the pond out back and they have stayed in there for years. Apparently they like the water and the only way to get them out is to go in after them. Kitty - I'm not sure if you are bragging or complaining about your abundance of fruit. The last time I saw any accumulation of citrus was in the grocery store and they wanted me to pay for them before I could take them. It's going to be about 9 to 10 months before I can pick anything from my backyard and then it will probably be a vegetable. I am definitely, seriously thinking about moving in with you. The only thing in my backyard right now is dead flowers. Wait a minute - now I'm complaining!

I'm thinking about moving in with kitty until the harvest is done. I always told Mindy that I have never had the desire to take a trip. Now I am starting to rethink that thought since I am getting so many friends down there.

More rain here. It started raining yesterday morning and continues to come down. Not complaining  because it sure is good for all the trees before they take there winter nap.

Lloyd ... I'll add a 10 pound bag of potatoes to your pot of stone soup.

Lynda, neither bragging nor complaining...just making an observation.  I take that back...I complained about the lack of key limes!!! I'd send you fresh fruit, but I don't want to get arrested for sending citrus to Canada.

Mike, winter may be arriving real soon....3 feet of snow in Denver and it's heading your way.  I hope all that rain doesn't turn to ice. You better get out while you can!

Lloyd, I've 3 lbs of onions for your stone soup.

That Guy with the Ark and animals went by here twice yesterday and then again at 0300 this morning. The State officials(the ones not in jail or prison yet) closed some roads early this morning, haven't figured out why yet as you couldn't see the roads anyway because of all the water on them!
The pond in the backyard was almost empty a couple of days ago but now it is overflowing, according to the rain gauge we acquired about 4.15 " in the last day and a half. Not bad, too Bad it wasn't snow as I wanted to play around with the snowblower. I'm trying to get it running for when we get a good NorEaster. It is good and clean now as I left it outside before the Heavens opened up and dribbled on us.
We are having a heat wave, the temperature is up to 65.5 degrees F.

Kitty you can send some of those Pecans here, I'm totally out of Black Walnuts, Acorns and Hickory Nuts so send some of those Pecans so that I can bake some pies.

Found out that my roofs are leaking somewhat, some of those folks that were cleaning off the egg from that guy who kept throwing all of those eggs at my house. Seems they weren't to gentle on my roofs, they kept sticking ladders up on the first story roofs so that they could run around up on the second story roof. I now have a shower in the office, a new shower over the bathroom sink and another shower by the fireplace and by the front door. Those lucky trick or treaters are going to get all washed off when they knock on our front door. The big shower in my woodshop has washed off the big drill press and it is turning a lovely shade of brown. Called the insurance company and they said that they will show up when it stops raining, only 37 more days to go.

Dee,  I'm glad that you're feeling better and that your husband can now hear better. I bought one of those battery operated sound enhancers so that I could watch football on Sundays, I don't have to turn up the volume on the TV anymore to rockstar status so that the folks on the other side of the Lake can hear the game that I'm watching. It does interfere somewhat with drinking beer though as I keep spilling that precious liquid when raising the can to my lips. It gets hung-up on the loop that goes from ear to ear. Maybe I should use a straw!!

My Bride is having to work new hours at the new Wally World that she is at. I told her that she should just go ahead and stay there and come home on Sundays to change her underwear and socks and I would cook her a nice hot meal before she has to head back for another week of strange hours. The clown who is coming up with her hours has relegated all of the girls that are over 40 to the really weird hours and all of the new sweet young things have the daylight hours. He is single and the store is now open all day every day 24/7. I told her that I would begin calling him every hour on the hour starting this coming Monday and asking him how you are doing. She wasn't to pleased with my new suggestion.

Some folks did peruse my new endeavor "www.healthinsby1dustychuck.com" You don't have to buy anything just get a quote and then when you get that check out the opportunities down on the bottom of the page too! Some folks are eligible to acquire that cute little Gnome from "Travelocity" for no cost or they can even jump in with both feet and acquire a business too!

Have a nice day.

I have to keep a close watch on my pet rock, he likes to jump into the hot tub and always makes a big splash ! he thinks it's real funny and he is always getting stoned !!

Well had a busy couple of days, yesterday I steamed cleaned all the carpets getting the last one done around midnight last night and this morning I moved all the furniture back, mowed the lawn and pressure washed the house siding. Now I am done and i'm ready to enjoy the weekend.

The snowbirds are starting to arrive ( oh boy ) there goes the pool and hot tub, they seem to think that everything was put in just for them !! they always destroy the umbrellas then when they leave those of us who live here all year get stuck buying new ones. You would think adults would act like adults but no, things start disappearing and of course no one knows nothing about it. Then they think the community rules should be changed or new ones made to suit them, even thou they are only here for 4 months and the rest of us have to live with those rules all year. I say stay up north and just send your money down !!

sorry about going on like that but now I feel much better. I think i'll go for a walk with Spanky ( my pet rock ).......

Have a great weekend  and watch out for candy stealing ghost !!!!!

I have to tell you that I am absolutely amazed that the guys can take a simple rock and roll with it forever. And Kitty, I just think that I'm jealous 'cause I can't go out and pick citrus fruit in my backyard. I think I will come and live with you.

I must say FaceBook has to have silly little games to entertain the masses, but here we have Mikieeeeee!!!!!, (then MA, and Popeye and Bill, and Chuck and Let don't forget Popeye either.) Oh did I say Popeye twice.,,,,,  (I am sure glad I am the shy one,hu)

Hey Popeye, my son Charles today picked up a 35 foot trailer for just $800.00, why don't I find deals like that. (He did say I could pull it for him with my truck.)

Popeye ... I hear that the ones that come with papers end up tinkeling on the papers anyway. Then the rocks that are bred for show will crack after time.

LLOYD DEAN ... do you feel better now?

I had to go out and get a neon coller for my pet rock. I took it out for a walk and it got lost in a gravel driveway. I had one heck of a time finding it.

Everything went as planned last night. We had gone out and bought 6 bags of candybars for the little doorbell ringers and not one person came to the door. Looks like again this year Bonnie and I will have to eat the candybars ourselves.

Looks like we scared away Kitty and Lynda and even Jerry.

Well, the kids asked me over last night where they could go partying and their kids could go Trick or Treating and pass out candy (which I furnish) for them.

Since Jewel did a great job on the make up and outfits, I said I would. So PawPaw passed out candy from 6:30 to about 9:15 when the last of the candy was gone.  The Kids had carved J O L's and we had them lited up so it was very nice.  And of course since I was sitting outside, (The weather was great 65%)  I had my Stoogie and Ale, so I enjoyed myself too.  (And I only ate 2 pieces of the candy, wellll maybe 3, ok I ate only 5 pieces)

Oh BTW, they have a new candy (at least to me) called Damy Dogs tasted like the old peanutbutter logs.

Well need to get ready for church, will chat later.

Oh no, Mike, you haven't scared me away. I am still in jaw dropping awe of what you guys can do with rocks! Went trick or treating last night with a wine glass in hand. Tasted some mighty fine vintages. I love living in this neighbourhood! I can't believe that as of yesterday every weekend in November is now booked for us. In a way it will be a lot of fun but it will also be tiring. We are having a food and wine pairing on the 7th, the fourteenth I offered to help a friend cater a wedding (I have no idea what I was thinking), we just found out that relatives are coming from Nova Scotia on the 21st and the 28th is my husband's company Christmas party. Then we are into December and I don't even want to think about that yet. I am teaching again one day a week (I teach cooking at one of the local grocery stores) and I have to go see my mother soon. That involves a full day as she lives a couple of hours from where we are. Put all of that with the day to day things that need doing and I can see a tropical island somewhere in the future - maybe about February. Or maybe a cruise ship........gives me something to dream about. And, there is snow in the forcast for Friday! Golly life is good! Take care, Lynda

Goodness gracious!  I'm still around, boys.  I'm a teacher...I don't scare that easily!  Yesterday was a college football day.  I was busy putting together snacks and watching the 'Noles win a very close game, then watched the Gators put the chomp on Georgia again!  I'm sure the Bulldogs thought they looked rather intimidating in their black pants and black helmets, but they were all bark.

Tebow broke Herschel Walker's rushing TD record, the Gator offense looked much better, Riley Cooper made a great one handed catch in the end zone in spite of Boykin being in his face...all in all a very good day.  The Gators are still undefeated.

We had no adorable little tykes in costume come calling for candy, but we're on a busy, busy road with no sidewalks and a fair distance between houses, so I didn't expect any.

This morning I had the joy of pulling the refrigerator out and cleaning the coils and fan,  scrubbing the floor and all that.  The fridge hasn't been cooling properly and I figured the cat fur had probably gotten a bit thick again.  I was right.   The fridge is feeling much better and cooling to its appropriate temp.

Honey and I went and picked up some potting soil at the Home Depot so I could plant my little avocado plant.  I have a second one sprouting on a window sill where the cats can't get to it.   Then we went to the flea market.  I found a really pretty ceramic cookie jar for my daughter....$5!  That's a great buy.  One Christmas present purchased!  Hurray!

And by the way, I had dropped my pet rock in the front planter and when I went to get it, it had met up with a rock of the opposite sex.  Now I have a whole family of pet rocks hanging out  in the planter on my front porch.

I just made Teriyaki Wings for an afternoon snack and now we are watching the Bears and Browns and  getting ready to watch the Vikings make a little cottage cheese out of the packers.

I found out that my pet rock liked it better outside so now it spends all its time out there. I'm thinking about turning it into a weather rock.

Okay. Time to catch up. First of all: LLOYD DEAN!!! MICHEAL!!! POPEYE!!! BILL!!!!! Anyone else need a good scolding? I'm here to do it. Lloyd, I'm glad you aren't traveling in snow. You people are so right that these Texans can't even drive right on dry roads! A well known lawyer was driving too fast the other day in the rain and rain into a tree. He and his assistant were both killed. Sad situation. I'm glad your foot doesn't need surgery right now. take care of your shoulder too. Lloyd, We sang Dancing with the Angels in church this morning. I should say everyone else sang it. All I could do was stand there with tears streaming down my face. It was the first time we sang it since Tommie died. All I could do was think of her and smile. They sang it the Sunday after the funeral in her memory but I was still in San Antonio. Lynda, driving in wet and snow are the worst. The last time I skidded in the snow and ended up heading back toward home, I went home! That was 20 some years ago and I was bugging Mark to move to Texas. It finally worked. Kitty, pecans and fruit trees? Sounds great! I want some! Kim, I'm fine here. Just been neglecting the ccoa lately. Shame on me. Linda, it's good to see you visiting. Don't stay away! Mike, a Florida outing? Sounds like you guys would have fun but Bill's neighborhood would never be the same. It would probably be worse than the snow birds! Bill, do you get any choice or are they just going to move in on you? I seem to remember is was called "The Bad Boys Club" There is no circle to it. It's a bad club!!!!! Your pet rock stories are cracking me up. With skipping them on water and getting lost at the botton, buying the runt, rock & roll, multiplying, house training them, vet bills, walking them, getting stoned, overweight ones, riding the treadmill, I don't know if I can come up with any more. It sure keeps everyone laughing. Give you guys a neck tie and you'd be occupied for hours! Dee, I hope your arm is heeling well. How is your Mom? Stone soup is great! I have 2 pounds of carrots to add to the pot! It has stopped raining here for the weekend. It really cools off at night. I had to put another blanket on last night. Brrr.... Bill, those snow birds just don't have any manners! Shame on them! We had more trick or treaters than previous years and I ran out of candy. Had to turn the lights off. Oh well. It was the big kids who were still coming by that time. They don't need to be out anyways. Lynda, Trick or treating with your wine glass? Sounds great! Did you have fun? Well, I think I caught up some here. Sorry I got lost in the crowd and wasn't posting. There are still some missing people here. Jerry??? Where are you dear????? Gotta go for now. Love to all. Behave yourselves or at least have fun at it. "MA" "Madam Ambassador"

It sure was a good day for football. It started out with the Miami Minnows winning and continued with the Vikings making cottage cheese of the Packers.

My pet rock wanted to come in and watch the Vikings. I never knew it was a Viking fan. How lucky can one get. I did make some carmel rolls earlie so watching the game sure was a rock and roll time.

I'm think we will have to go to Texas to have the neck tie party since it is still legal there.

I've beena little quiet due to the fact that I was looking for the rock that has been hanging around with me for years. People have been writing on him constantly and I knew that I had left him outside somewhere. I had left him with his buddies the Flint Brothers but the Indians had scattered them all over the back and side yards and then today I spotted him right behind the big  gas grill. Didn't recognize him at first and then I saw some faint writing on his face(It has been raining an awful lot here for the last few months) So my Rock has just about started off on a clean"Slate" and he now rests on the left food prep side of the gas grill. His buddies the Flint Brothers are all chipped up and not yet presentable to the masses, will have to see if we can get them reworked and feeling sharp.
Bears WON too!

Good Morning Family: I hope I can still find love here. I'm sorry for not posting in awhile. Not that I'm addicted to facebook I have been there more than here and I will correct that. I will catch up on all the postings and will get back to my Ambassadorial duties. And I can see that I'm not the only one who has been MIA.

Mikey: I'm still here. But you did catch me. I got your note on facebook. Still full of vim and vigor or is that vinegar???

It was a great football day yesterday although I did have a tough time with the Eagles-Giants game. I'm originally from Philly but now live in New York. My partner couldn't figure out which team I was rooting for since anytime either team scored I would yell. Same way with the Phillies & Yankees. I feel like I'm between a pet rock and a hard place....... Actually I never had a pet rock but did find a huge turtle in our back yard that I thought was a rock until it moved while I was standing on it. Scared the heck out of me.

Hi Lloyd, Bill, MA, Lynda, Linda, Popeye, Chuck, Kitty, Lisa & Bruce, and everyone who I didn't mention by name. Hope you are all doing well. I will post an updated ornament list later today.

Wishing all a very safe and happy day and a better tomorrow.

Well the Toys -r-us xmas book is out !!! as I was looking thru it I could not find any pet rocks ! so I called the local store and was informed that they had to dropped the line. They would come in in the morning and find them all stoned or getting into mixed marriages and they just felt that it wasn't good for the company image.

Spanky ( my pet rock ) and I watched the Nascar race together yesterday. I'am a Tony Stewart fan but Spanky likes Jimmy Johnson. I think he picked him only because he knows there is a good chance he'll win the championship.

I would join you in Texas for the neck tie party but I'am going to be tied up.

Everyone have a great week, even thou I didn't mention everyone by name you are all in my thoughts. I was going to say someting to all of you but when MA gave me my scolding, I lost my train of thought, it pulled out of the station without me !!

Hey the last time  I went to one of those neck tie parties, they tried to make me the Honor Guest, but hemb is tooo rough so I declined  the invitation.  And putting all joking aside that is a very touchy subject down here, one person's decoration is another's anger. So I won't go there even joking.

I was going to have a Pet Rock party at my son's but he said no, because they would Rock the house down.  And Mikieee, I have a excellent Weather Stone and it has never been wrong.  When it is wet it is raining, when it is dry it is sunny and hot,  so far it is still here, so we haven't had a hurracaine.  Of course the one I fear the most is when it is covered in white stuff and is frozen.

You could always take your BOOM BOX to the park. But then some rockhead would probably take a liking to your radio and tunes and you would have to kiss it goodbye. You could always go out to Montauk Point, I do know that there are millions of rocks out there and you should be able to find a friendly one or two there.
My Brides Grandfather had a chicken farm out there, he lived and worked there when he wasn't building stairs. He left there when his body ceased functioning in 1953.
I'm sure that some of these folks on the cooking club would be happy to send you a pet rock or two, if you have a spare Clock then You could do like Bill Haley and Rock around the Clock with your pet rock. )

Good Morning Everyone. Jerry, I have a rock garden and all of the rocks have been humanely raised. They are well behaved and have their papers. I could send you one if it doesn't matter that you would have a foreign pet rock. Although there might be trouble clearing customs. None of my rocks have their passports. I could try to bring it across the border in my trunk but if I get caught there is no telling what kind of trouble I could get into. Anyway, keep it in mind. Oh, they are all also house broken. Have a great day, Lynda

Lynda. You could mail jerry one but how would it breathe. Of course you could  send  a small air tank with it . But then with snail mail you don't know how long it will be before it gets there .

But if you put the pet rock in bubble wrap it will have all kinds of air bubbles to breath. Hum ... a Canuk pet rock in New York. If Herman was still around he could send you a Chanik Canuk pet rock. My pet rock came from Canada. It rode the glacers down quite a few years ago before there was a boarder patrol.

Rock & roll is here to stay!!! My pet rock sneaked into my bosses' luggage and went to Italy with him. The last I heard she went to Venice and was riding a Gondola. I think she may have eloped! Oh no! Is she pregnant? Now we'll have to watch for baby rocks or pebbles. Maybe she will move to Pebble Beach??? My set up here is messed up. the messages are all the way to the right and there is no bold, copy, past, smilies, etc. Any ideas what to do? "MA"

Hey Jerry, there is sooooo many people in NYC and if each has a pet rock, how will they take care of all that Rock Poop? (Dust) Look at AZ. and N.M. they are almost all Rock Poop from the Rocky Mountians.  Now those people are use to living in dust up to their eye balls, but New Yorkers would just complain and pass another law against something.

Lynda you could get with ACORN and they could regiser those Rocks as Dumbocratic and everything would be alright, heck they might even get Social Security, they are older than the hills anyway.

Good morning, everybody!

Well, the cold front arrived and brought with it it clouds, wind and cooler temperatures.   I'm going to have to get a sweater out...it's only 70 right now...downright cold in my book...I know y'all are laughing and shaking your heads over that one!  It feels cold after last week's heat.

Well, I feel kind of punky today, so I'm going to go curl up with a cup of tea and a book.

Have a lovely day!

Jerry; Spanky ( my pet rock )  found me. There I was laying on a beach up north when I kept feeling something pressing against my back, so I got up and lifted my towel and there he was ! He looked so forlorn, so we talked and played on the beach for most of the day and of course at the time I didn't know he couldn't swim but when I gave him a playful toss into the ocean he just sank ! I rushed in and saved him and I felt so bad about what I had done but he just starred stone faced at me and said it was ok. The rest is history we have been together for many many years now. I even got to meet his mother once, she is part of a stone wall and pretty set in her ways. His dad left when he was just a pebble so he really never knew him, all he knows is what his mom told him about his dad being a rolling stone and never staying in one place to long.

So if it is meant for you to have a pet rock just be patient and it will happen when you least exspect it. It could happen in a quiet resturant or on a busy subway or in a peaceful garden.

To Everyone else may some one or someting ROCK your world today !!!

Funny thing happened a month ago and an e-mail yesterday from the Cooking Club sort of brought everything back into SHARP FOCUS. The e-mail was asking me to submit my report for the sample that I received. I hadn't realized that a sample had been sent. What happened was that I received a large box of Cake Mix from King Arthur Flour just prior to my Birthday and since I thought that was really nice of them to send a large box of cake mix to me for my birthday. There wasn't any other paperwork in or on the box saying that it may have been sent to me for another reason.
To make a short story somewhat longer I did make a cake for my birthday from the mix and it was very moist(I strongly prefer white cakes as I don't like Chocolate) and everybody that showed up to wish me a Happy Birthday stated that the cake was fantastic and they congratulated my Bride for making the cake. Sad to say but she corrected them by saying that good ole Chuck had made and baked the cake himself for his own birthday courtesy of King Arthur Flour.
I would like to THANK the Cooking Club for requesting that King Arthur Flour send that sample box of cake flour to me. I heartily recommend that everyone of you run out right away and purchase a large box of Unbleached Cake Flour from King Arthur Flour at your local Supermarket.  It is excellent Cake Flour! I even had four helpings of the cake before we ran out of baked cake. I made a Buttercream frosting for it and My Daughter-in-Laws ate every little bit of it that was on their plates. I know because I also was lucky enough to wash all of the dishes and silverware as My Live-in Girlfriend was off playing on the computer.

I'm still trying to find the missing paperwork that I didn't receive with the box of cake flour. I'll probably lose all of my "atta-boys" because I didn't know automatically that it was a TESTING SAMPLE!

I have another SAMPLE here right now for alleviating pain. Right now I seem to be a pain in somebody's nether regions. I figure that I will have to wear this shocking device for at least a week to relieve the pain. It is battery powered, My Bride can't test it because she has too many extra heart beats per minute and since it is an electric shock device it could terminate all of her back pain forever. The paperwork does state that and I have no idea as to what back pain really is as I have never experienced it.  Now a pain in the rectum is not the same as a pain in the back or in the neck. I have been known to be a pain in the neck and also a pain in the rectum. You can quote me on that.

Just spoke to my pet rock "Slate" and he just got out of the shower. He going to start the day as a clean slate and I sure am proud of him for being that way.

I Love cooking with wine, sometimes I even put it in the food!! Money isn't everything but it sure keeps the kids and grandchildren in touch !!

I'm thinking that if everyone brought there pet rock to the gathering they could start a rock band. Maybe they would do good and be a big success ... make lots of money and give it to us since they don't need money.

Well Mikiee, I am sad to say, mine is not musical incline, but he sure likes to fiddle around.  I think he is the one the Highwaymen was singing about when they sanged "True love travels a Gravel Road.".

I'am proud to say that my pet rock ( Spanky ) is a pretty good singer but he always sings the same song ( Papa was a rolling stone ).

Jerry ... was the window open or closed when some one threw the rock through it?

I was just talking to my rock and it told me that it started the Hard Rock Cafe. I guess it can cook real good.

You all made me laugh with the whole pet rock thing LOL.
Lloyd, glad you don't have to have surgery.  Some doctors are in such a rush to operate when it was needed in the first place.  Nice to try simple remedies first.  Plus, I've been hearing on the news lately about doctors operating on the wrong body parts.  Instead of the left foot, they operate on the right foot by mistake.
