Q: Is it possible to freeze smoked salmon without the texture and flavor degrading?

A: You can freeze smoked salmon, although you may notice a slight deterioration in texture and flavor once it's thawed. This can be minimized by freezing the salmon for only a few months and thawing it slowly in the refrigerator. If the salmon has been frozen and then thawed, however, don't refreeze it. The texture and flavor will suffer and, more importantly, it could lead to food safety issues.
