I picked cover 2 because in November you always see Turkeys on the front of magazines. I believe that if the cake is on the front it would stand out from the others.
Monday, August 09, 2010 10:23 AM
I like cover number 2 because it shows appealing different items to add variety to a thanksgiving dinner. I have made turkey many times. Edna Poole
Monday, August 09, 2010 11:46 AM
I like the idea of not showing a turkey as many of us don't always serve turkey. Ham or Rib Roast are also favorites.
Monday, August 09, 2010 11:57 AM
I strongly think Cover 2 is more appropriate for this season since the Club has already used cover 1 in another issue in the past. Plus we need to show more sides dishes etc. other than just serving Turkey itself.
Monday, August 09, 2010 12:35 PM
I love cover No. 2 because it looks scrumshis and makes me want to make it right away. It looks like it will be a family favorite and a big hit at church dinners. My choice will be to use Granny Smith apples because they don't make desserts overly sweet and are the most nutritious apple. Like others have thought - the turkey is usually always used on a Thanksgiving magazine cover. Gramsie

I like Cover 2 because everyboby like sweets in my family.
Monday, August 09, 2010 1:09 PM
I like cover 2 because this time of year turkeys are all over the place.
Monday, August 09, 2010 1:19 PM
I picked #1 because in the past months, I have seen lots of cakes on the fronts of magazines and after all November is noted for its turkey day.......
Monday, August 09, 2010 2:24 PM
I chose #1, because Thanksgiving and Turkey is a tradition we celebrate in The Month of November and seems to bring some hope, some balance and some stability to Our Family Gatherings!!!
Monday, August 09, 2010 4:48 PM
I chose #1 because it feels like several issues have already featured desserts. Also that turkey looks so yummy, plus I like the overall feel of the layout better.
Monday, August 09, 2010 6:29 PM
I choose #2, because apples are in the cake and apples are a big part of the fall. I also argee that turkeys are going to be on several other magazines.
Monday, August 09, 2010 8:10 PM
Turkeys ae always featured on fall covers of food mags and related items. Something new would be refreshing and ideas for other menu options for the holidays are welcome. Look forward to seeing it soon.
Monday, August 09, 2010 8:14 PM
I chose cover #1, because the overall feel of the layout was more appealing and eye catching. It really grabbed my attention and made me hungry!
Monday, August 09, 2010 10:55 PM
I chose #1 beacuse it was more appealing to me and made my mouth water!
Monday, August 09, 2010 10:59 PM
I chose #1 because it has more appeal to me
Monday, August 09, 2010 11:00 PM
I chose #1 because it has more appeal to me
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 12:10 AM
I chose cover #2 because it was more appealing to me and cover #1 was taken up almost entirely by the big turkey! I think you should be different and try something new like standing rib roast, ham, duck, etc.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 12:42 AM
I chose #1 for the turkey but if a fall scene such as a corn stalks, pumpkins, squash, etc. would have been more appealing to me. I get tired of turkeys and desserts.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 1:28 AM
turky is boring cake taste good
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 4:30 AM
I chose cover 1 because it's suppose to be about thanksgiving and nothing says thanksgiving like a turkey
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 5:25 AM
Seems like every other magazine/publication has a turkey somewhere on their cover. I personally think the cake looks more inviting than the turkey.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 7:28 AM
cover 2 looks good but I pick cover 1 because at this time of year there are a lot of people who want to "try to make their first turkey" and this would let them know they can do it. I do think it would look a little better though with maybe a bowl or 2 of side dishes somewhere on the cover....kind of bring it all together. I agree with a few of the other comments that I have seen way too many cakes/cupcakes/dessert type pictures and am more into the savory things.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 9:26 AM
I decided to check on number 2 mag because i want to learn more on desert and cakes because they are delicious to eat and beside i like to cook my own food and to treat my family to a nice new thing on a special holiday.I also want my girls to know the importance in home cooking for the family.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 9:58 AM
I chose cover #2 because, as many have said, turkey is going to be on all the other cooking magazines for fall. Plus, it doesn't even look like the turkey was staged for a photo. On Bon Apetit or Better Homes and Gardens or one of those other magazines, they feature a turkey all dressed up with garnishes on a fancy plate with a nice bottle of wine in the background of the tablescape. Seeing #1 next to a photo like that, which turkey would you prefer to make?
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 10:02 AM
SonyaJ.Tuesday, August 10, 2010 10:58 AM Ilike the first cover because nothing says Thanksgiving like turkey.Besides, It's one of the only holidays that you can get your grub on and no one is looking at you eating like a pig!
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 10:03 AM
SonyaJ.Tuesday, August 10, 2010 10:58 AM Ilike the first cover because nothing says Thanksgiving like turkey.Besides, It's one of the only holidays that you can get your grub on and no one is looking at you eating like a pig!
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 12:43 PM
ljackson341 I like the thought of holiday deserts
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 12:54 PM
The idea of the cake is great and different from the traditional turkey. However when looking at the covers appeal i picked number 1 because of the lay out of the spread and the attraction it drew.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 1:20 PM
#2 is def. more appealing!
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 4:31 PM
I chose #2 because, like others have noted, lots of magazines have a turkey on the cover at this time of year. We have a thoroughly interesting cover, in #2, with the desserts and especially the apples on the cover. I, for one, would love to learn more about desserts (I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but they intimidate me) I will also appreciate the recipes/ideas on the apples. My compliments to the photographer(s) for both, they are absolutely beautiful.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 8:21 PM
What's wrong with tradition? That's what Thanksgiving is all about. Turkey and the rest are complementary!
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 8:16 AM
#1 This is simple, clean and traditional. No fuss no muss, pretty much how it woud come out at my house. I like things to be "real" not fancied up with things that you'd never see at 90% of peoples home. #2 is is a fine layout, but this is the right time of year for the turkey and it's a good warm up for Christmas.
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 8:29 AM
I love turkey. I buy a Turkey breast at Thanksging and Christmas. I choose #2
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 4:10 PM
Cover 1 is appropiate for November. I love Turkey and I think that cake is for Easter.
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 4:11 PM
I like # 1 because it's Thanksgiving and i like turkey.
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 5:24 PM
Turkey for Thanksgiving...only #1 should be considered.
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 8:21 PM
I chose no #2 I also love Turkey but the one on that cover looks almost burned. Cover #2 is far more pleasing to the eye.
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 10:07 PM
I chose cover 2, I like the layout better. the words aren't covering the food. Everyone has Turkeys on their covers , this will stand out. The word Apple=licoious is very appealing.
Thursday, August 12, 2010 6:51 AM
Hey--what is wrong with tradition? We lose too many of our traditions as it is with people racing in and out for holidays. Let's celebrate the turkey. Also which is going to be less fattening with the appoach of the holiday season (overloaded with sweets) the turkey or the cake? The bird has earned his place among magazine covers, even if it is only every November.
Thursday, August 12, 2010 12:23 PM
I chose cover 2 because cover 1 isn't any different than what will be on 20 other magazines this time of year. Cover 2 really caught my eye, the layout , use of the the word appleicious - very unique - definitley stands out.
Thursday, August 12, 2010 1:12 PM
I chose cover 1 because it is set up really well, the lay-out is very professional and what would Thanksgiving be without the Turkey, I am sure there are more than just turkey recipes covered in this mag. desserts are great for those who like them, but that cake does not look any different than all the others on the front of mags, and after all it is nicknamed Turkey Day !!!!
Thursday, August 12, 2010 1:15 PM
I chose cover #2 as I found it more versatile for the fall season. Almost everyone bakes goodies for Thanksgiving but not everyone eats turkey. The cake is more appealing. T. Barker
Thursday, August 12, 2010 1:57 PM
I chose #1, because, in my opinion, the first Thanksgiving was just that- GIVING THANKS. People used what was available. They weren't interested in special cakes, pies, etc. They gave thanks for Health, Friends, and Peace. The symbol of the turkey does that perfectly.
Thursday, August 12, 2010 2:02 PM
I chose cover #2 because almost every home and cooking magazine has the traditional turkey photo on its cover this time of year. Boring. I think most of us like to try a few new dessert recipes each Thanksgiving to share with relatives.
Thursday, August 12, 2010 2:09 PM
I chose #1 because it represents Thanksgiving and being thankful for what we have. In this day and age and this economy, it's having something to look forward to, comforting. You can bake a cake anyday. Turkey is special, for a special day. God Bless America!
Thursday, August 12, 2010 6:42 PM
I chose cover #2 because it was more colorful and appealing. All we see are turkeys during the Thanksgiving season!
Friday, August 13, 2010 7:14 AM
I chose cover #2 because I raise turkeys so we have them anytime! This time of year turkeys are on many covers also.
Friday, August 13, 2010 10:07 AM
I chose cover 2 as cover 1 is just not as visual stimulating. It is a beautiful turkey, but let's face it that is all it is. The other cover portrays the idea that a new skill or recipe may be learned in the issue.
Friday, August 13, 2010 11:25 AM
Sorry, but Cover 1 looks just like every other magazine at this time of year - very boring. Cover 2 caught my eye immediately and made me want to look closer.
Friday, August 13, 2010 1:02 PM
Cover #1 is poorly done; so, I will have to cast my vote for #2.
Saturday, August 14, 2010 7:50 AM
Reading the comments, I must be in the minority! I chose #1 because it looked more appealing. Whether it is thanksgiving or not, I thought the turkey was more eye appealing
Saturday, August 14, 2010 8:12 AM
turkey = thanksgiving. nuff said. No. 1
Saturday, August 14, 2010 9:28 AM
I like the traditional turkey. We can make and see the desserts in any other issue, but turkey is really for Thanksgiving. #1 gets my vote.
Saturday, August 14, 2010 12:42 PM
I chose #2- I liked it and besides I have a food intolerence to Poultry- none for me please! Every other magazine offers those same photo's why not be different?
Saturday, August 14, 2010 2:52 PM
codybear I chose cover number 2. It is a brighter and more appealing cover. Cover number 1 is too dark and dreary and depressing to be shown for Thanksgiving. I like the fact that there is something shown besides a turkey on the cover. I am sure we all have plenty of magazines with turkeys on the cover. Just as there was a cornucopia of foods for the first Thanksgiving, let us have a variety of covers for different holidays throughout the year. Take care. Patti
Saturday, August 14, 2010 4:16 PM
# lsmith82............I choose #1.....What a beautiful Turkey...After all it will be that season and we are always looking for something extra special..Don't we want the family to eat more healthy.? Don.t get me wrong..I love something sweet at the end of the meal....But the main thing is the Turkey and trimmings....
Sunday, August 15, 2010 4:06 PM
I choose cover #1 because The turkey looks really good and it will be almost thanksgiving and people will be looking for recipes for thanksgiving. and the turkey shows its for thanksgiving. the other cover they would have to read it in small letters. I think you would sell more with the turkey.
Monday, August 16, 2010 9:38 AM
i think #2 because I like apple cake
Tuesday, August 17, 2010 5:38 PM
I chose cover #2, desserts look more appealing then a plain ol' turkey.
