Lifting Layers

When you need to split a single cake layer in two, it can be tricky to lift the top layer off without it breaking or crumbling.
Here's a good method to use: Slide a flexible plastic cutting board underneath the top layer to lift it off in once piece. You then can slide it off the cutting board and onto the frosted bottom layer when needed.
