If you buy your shrimp with the shells on, here's the best tool for shelling and deveining them: a seam ripper.

It cuts right through the shell and easily removes the vein.

Oh man someone stole my secret. this is how I always devein shrimp.
I just didn't want to admit it, it does sound funny and looks funny. My family thought I was crazy for doing it this way.

I live in Louisiana, we just peel a very small portion, pinch the tail and the whole thing comes off.....this seems longer, I have had to peel ice chests at a time, this would take too long
