Sweet, peppery and crunchy all at once, these walnuts instantly add magic to a salad.
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnut halves
1. Combine sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper, ginger and salt in small bowl.
2. Heat heavy medium skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add walnuts in single layer; cook 3 minutes or until fragrant and lightly browned, stirring frequently. Stir in sugar mixture; cook 1 minute or until walnuts are well-coated with sugar, stirring constantly. (Do not let sugar dissolve completely; leave some grainy texture on the walnuts.) Place on plate; cool.
