Tip of the Week 7-26-10
Better Buttering

Here's a fast, easy method for buttering corn on the cob: Place the cooked ears in a disposable aluminum pan along with melted butter and various seasonings. Then cover the pan with the lid and roll it back and forth to coat the corn.

When you eat outside, the pan is an easy way to transport the corn, and the lid keeps out flies and bees.

Sounds much quicker and easier than doing the one cob at a time bit. I like the fact that they will stay and be served up nice and hot!

Gosh, why haven't I ever thought of this? It's brilliant; will try it in a couple of weeks when we have friends over. Thanks!

Naked cobs are the way to go--good corn doesn't need anything.

Fantastic idea yet so simple to do. Its so hard sometimes to keep the corn from rolling, so this solves that problem

We always used a piece of bread. Put butter on the bread and roll the corn in the rolled up bread. Then someone eats the buttered bread. No waste.

This works GREAT for spicing up the corn too. I do this in a big roasting pan and add lots of spices to compliment the main course. Really good way spice up your meal even the kids love it.

Many years ago we had a family over for bar-b-que. Of course corn on the cob bar-b-que was on the menu. Without thinking I put a tub of butter on the table and before I knew it the 3 yr old had his corn cob in the tub of butter swirling it around! LOL Wish I knew about this trick back then!

I come from corn country, so we have a lot of corn boils late fall. In order to butter the years properly we take a fairly large mason jar fill it with very hot water and place the butter on top. What this does is melt the butter which forms a layer at the top of the water. To butter your corn perfectly all you need to do is dip it into the jar. It comes out perfectly buttered every time, and you do not waste butter.
